New Board Members

We are pleased to introduce the following new members of our Board of Directors:

Michael Branthover, CFP®, LPL Financial Advisor – Day Financial Group

As a Howard County native, I am very excited to give back to such a highly regarded organization, by helping lead and strategize for local retirees and their families.

Manisha Dhuria, Director of Physician Quality, Physician Leadership – Humana

I joined the Neighbor Ride Board to foster health in older adults as healthcare access, as well as social and community support, are key social determinants of health.

Michael Garzon, Sr. Manager Engineering and Design – Baltimore Gas and Electric

I am looking forward to helping Neighbor Ride continue to grow by working to further improve the technology and processes that support older adults’ access to transportation. I value Neighbor Ride’s unique service approach that provides the opportunity to connect the community while also addressing a need.

Skip Klauka, Director of Finance – Community Action Council of Howard County

I am excited to be part of Neighbor Ride, an exceptional nonprofit organization that serves older adults and assists them with the challenges that come with aging.

Christine Zimmerman, IT Business Relationship Manager – Enterprise Community Investment, Inc.

I am delighted to work with Neighbor Ride as their mission to provide affordable transportation to our growing older adult population in Howard County provides me with an opportunity to give back to our community.

Living with Alzheimer's for Care Partners Series

Winter Growth’s Living with Alzheimer’s for Care Partners series, presented by the Alzheimer’s Association Greater MD Chapter, continues on Wednesday, September 20th at 6:30 pm. The program will be held at Winter Growth (5460 Ruth Keeton Way, Columbia 21044), and light refreshments will be served.

This program provides practical answers to the questions that arise in the early to middle stages. Hear caregivers and professionals discuss what you can do to cope with the changes that come with an early-stage diagnosis. What does the diagnosis mean? What kinds of plans need to be made? What resources are available to help? Presenters will also discuss helpful strategies to provide safe, effective and comfortable care in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s.

To RSVP, participants are asked to call or email Bailey at (410) 964-9616 or bailey.clum@wintergrowthinc.org.

NOTES FROM THE ROAD

Driver Steve reminds volunteers that:

All columns in the Ride Match Portal can be sorted, for example if you are looking for all the rides for a particular client, sort the name column.  If you are looking for all one-way rides, sort the Trip Direction column, etc.

If you have a tip you would like to share with our drivers please email it to: volunteer@neighborride.org.

Magnet Day

The Neighbor Ride car magnets are one of our biggest recruiting tools, so we have designated every 3rd Tuesday of the month as Magnet Day. We ask all volunteers to display the magnets on their cars throughout the day.
