NEIGHBOR RIDE is a transportation alternative for Howard County's older residents. Because a significant number of older Americans no longer drive, they often stay at home, cutting themselves off from the activities and interaction that provide quality to their lives. Many communities across the country have tackled the problem of limited transportation by forming grassroots, community-based services called supplemental transportation programs. Howard County now has such a program. NEIGHBOR RIDE is a greatly needed service meant to supplement public and private transportation services. It is available to all seniors, age 60 and over, who need transportation to healthcare or personal appointments, visits with friends and other activities.
