June 2019 Transporter

Jul 9, 2019 | Volunteer Newsletters

Ride Match Database, Month One is in the Books

As we wrap up the first full month of use of our new Ride Match system, we offer a heartfelt thank you to you our volunteers for making the transition as smooth as we could have possibly imagined.  We thank you for your patience and willingness to share your feedback – any transition to a new system will have its snafu’s and we had our share but because of your support, we have successfully moved to the system and achieved our goal of minimizing any impact on our service to clients.

During June Ride Coordinators managed over 900 ride requests AND they did that in both the old and new systems! Just shy of 200 drivers have accepted a ride during June meaning they have navigated the new system – if you have not had a chance to access the new system yet, please visit:

https://portal.neighborride.org

and follow the Ride Match Setup Instructions further down in this email.  The old system will be “turned off” the middle of July.

Several folks have shared feedback on the new system and we will to work to evaluate all the input and leverage the feedback as best we can.  With that in mind, we did want to take a moment to share a few “Did You Know’s” that we hope will make your experience with the new system even simpler.

Additionally, if you need any further help please feel free to visit the office for some “one-on-one” assistance.

Thank you again for all you do for Neighbor Ride and the local older adult population here in Howard County.

Bruce, Holly and Patrice

Ride Match “Did You Knows”

Did You Know #1 – Have Ride Match do the work for you by Using Suggested Rides to find rides that work best for you.  Suggested Rides show you:

  1. Pending Rides that match your driving schedule (if you have created one)
  2. Pending Rides that originate in your home zip code
  3. Pending Rides for folks you have taken in your last six rides
  4. Pending Rides that RC’s have requested/suggested for you based on your past driving

Did You Know #2 – You can put yourself “On Vacation” if you are going away or just need break from driving.

  1. Click – Update Schedule
  2. Scroll to bottom of page to Driver Time-off and enter the dates of your vacation
  3. RC’s will know not to send you rides and you will NOT receive the All Call or Last Resort while you are away.

Did You Know #3 – Troubleshooting Login Issues – If you are having issues logging in – you may actually already be logged in.  Check the top right corner of screen (or phone), if you see your name, you are already logged in.  Just click Dashboard

Did You Know #4 – Receiving Too Many Emails – you can access the “up to the minute” All Call and Last Resort lists via you dashboard.  So if you check your dashboard regularly, you can turn off those emails by Updating your Profile – accessible from the Dashboard.

Did You Know #5 – Cancelled Rides show up on your Dashboard.  If a client cancels a rides that you had agreed to do, we will still contact you BUT it will also show up as cancelled on your Dashboard until the date of the cancelled ride.

Ride Match Setup Instructions

  1. Access the new system using this url: portal.neighborride.org
  2. On the login screen,  click Reset Password.
Put in your email address and click Send Password Reset Link. You will be sent a link in your email to reset your password. The link will take you to a login screen where you can enter your user name (First Initial, Last name) and the new password and click Sign In
  3. Please review and complete all the sections of your profile. You can upload a scan or photo of your license and insurance.
  4. Add a schedule and vacation time off if you choose.  Putting in a schedule allows Ride Coordinators and the database itself to put Ride suggestions on your Suggested Rides page on your dashboard.
  5. There is a detailed Ride Match driver manual that you can access by clicking on the Help Section – “?” on top right of the dashboard screen.  Then click on Driver on the left hand side.

Many Thanks

To Pat Everhart, Ruth Small, Richard and Joanne Fornadel for working the Neighbor Ride table at the Department of Community Resources Health Fair on May 18.  We also want to thank Melissa Emery, Charlie Riesz, Bill Stolis and Andy Golden for talking up Neighbor Ride at the Howard County Family Wellness Day on June 2.  Also thanks to Jean and Louie Kranefeld for manning a table at the Moms Demand Action event on June 8 and Carole Graves and Ellen Rappoport for talking up Neighbor Ride at the Miller Library in June.
