Interview With a Long Standing Passenger
Gertrude, one of our long standing passengers is moving to Delaware. She is 95 and has been riding with Neighbor Ride since July of 2012. Altogether she has taken 398 rides and has had 68 different drivers. Holly Waddell, who is her neighbor 2 houses away, decided to interview her before she leaves.
“What is the highlight of your experience as a passenger?”
“My drivers! I have a list of my favorite drivers, Kelly, JoAnn, Catherine and Don, Barbara and John. All the drivers are so cordial. They are delightful. They go above and beyond to do extra stuff for me.
Last January on my birthday, I got a phone call from Kelly and she said to go look on my front porch. There on the porch was the most beautiful bouquet of flowers from her. She is so good to me.
The drivers are there for me all the time. They are so helpful. I felt so bad when I started using a walker and having to ask them to fold it up and put it in the back seat, but they don’t mind! When they drop me off, they get out of the car and make sure I get up the steps. They are always on time and they never make me wait around.
Everyone is so wonderful. We talk about everything and anything. We just get along so well.
And the office staff is wonderful, always on the ball. I enjoy chatting and laughing with them. It is never strictly business. We always have a bit of conversation. And they always wish me a good day.”
We will miss you Gert!
